The Gregg Group was founded 22 May 2004, prompted by the lack of online shorthand resources. As the primary use for shorthand — business and legal recording — has waned in recent decades, we generally acclaim the skill as a hobby or personal tool. The purpose of the group is to promote the use of Gregg systems of shorthand by providing advice to beginners, support for students, and an association of users of this efficient, attractive, and enjoyable method of writing.
Does anyone have any biographical information on these two shorthand plate writer? I would imagine that Georgie was somehow related to John Gregg, but she wasn’t his daughter. I have looked through several issues of the Gregg Writer. There is barely a word about either of these women. I have never seen a single photo of either one.

Georgie Gregg was John Gregg's niece. This excerpt is from Leslie Cowan's "John Robert Gregg"
(page 90):
"In 1912, Jared Gregg's seventeen-year-old daughter, Georgina, went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Gregg in New York. She learned the system, quickly qualified as an expert teacher, then settled into the Gregg Publishing Company as a very hard-working and valuable assistant in the Shorthand Department of the Gregg Writer. Her penmanship was oustandingly fluent, and when the principal plate-writer, Alice L. Rinne, married Hubert A. Hagar, Georgina Gregg took the greater share of the shorthand writing for the plates which appeared in the Gregg Writer and the textbooks. She continued to do this work after her marriage in 1919, despite the fact that she and her British husband (Mr. Louis B. Gingell) settled in Peru."
I have to check some of my old Gregg Writers to see if I can find pictures of either of these two women.
