Conversations suddenly go upwards?

Has something changed in the groups?

The conversations always used to flow downwards, the way you would read a book – so the newest entries were at the bottom.

Sometime today, they seemed to change and now flow upwards, with the newest entries at the top.

Caused me to miss some new comments at first, and it’s a bit disconcerting with longish comments, since you have to read the lines “1 2 3 4” of one comment from top to bottom, then backtrack over the comment you just read and to the beginning of the one before that, then read that comment “1 2 3 4 5 6”, then skip across that comment and the one above it again, etc. Like having to read “18 19 20 21 22 16 17 10 11 12 13 14 15 6 7 8 9 1 2 3 4 5”.

Is this just me, or is it a group setting that got changed by an admin, or did Multiply change how things work?

  1. Thanks! That seems to have fixed it.

I’m trying “Threaded” now, too—I didn’t know that that option existed.

(I haven’t seen any difference on the couple of posts I’ve looked at so far, but I guess it makes a difference when someone chooses “Reply” to a particular comment.)

  2. Those changes may have been made by Multiply. I've had the same issue a few days back (I like to see messages threaded and it was reversed!) and fixed it in my computer. You have to set that up in your preferences and I believe it is stored in the cookies for the blog. The quickest way is to click on the drop down box to the right, below the first message of a thread, and select one of "Threaded", "Chronological", or "Reverse." I believe that the setting you want is "Reverse."

Let me know if this works.

  3. "Chronological" runs top to bottom all through. It does seem to have been something done by Multiply. Sometime last week everything started showing in reverse until I changed it back.
"Threaded" does add some clarity. Thanks for the tip!
