Is ‘metal tag’ combined? And is ‘eighty’ transcribed as ‘ade’? (by i-gmail for everyone)
The Gregg Group was founded 22 May 2004, prompted by the lack of online shorthand resources. As the primary use for shorthand — business and legal recording — has waned in recent decades, we generally acclaim the skill as a hobby or personal tool. The purpose of the group is to promote the use of Gregg systems of shorthand by providing advice to beginners, support for students, and an association of users of this efficient, attractive, and enjoyable method of writing.

Hi everyone, I just started learning Simplified and I was wondering how long it would take to get good. I know it’s a vague question, and that everyone picks this up at different speeds, but if I practiced for about an hour a day, when do you think I could take a dictation at a…
Hi, group. I’ve gone through my Gregg collection and sorted out a number of duplicates. Any thoughts about the best way of selling them? What would people think about posting in this group? “… few stenomaskers. Freakish things.” (see post 24 of “Levels of Gregg”) Andrew, a sharp little bias there? Go to the National Verbatim Reporters Association website for some interesting reading about speech recognition software and court reporting. Military courts in the US and Canada have used stenomask reporters for about 50 years — and the…
So! Share your interesting Gregg sightings!! See “Shorthand for life!” Graffiti on a library? (Us bunglers and book nerds just can’t get things right!) “You need more sleep and less time” written in the clouds? Sit down at your school desk and see “Marx was here?!” (A common occurance, I’d assume) No dull sightings now…we know you…
One reason I liked Pitman, is that it is so much more suited to my modern Italic syle of handwriting. I write my letters without a curcsive sland and have been doing that since highschool. I think when John Gregg said that the Gregg shorthand system follows the natural slope, he was refering to the…
In one of my various texts, is suggests that for practice, you write the outline of a word on top of the word in the newspaper — does anyone actually do this? One of the shorthand sites has a similar kind of thing, and I forget which: You print out a sheet which has a…
