Caution is the Word!

My mystery was solved today! My $100 copy of Gregg Computer Shorthand for Non-shorthand Writers arrived from Amazon today. On yesterday’s receipt  the abbreviated title of this book was printed instead of Gregg Shorthand 1916 ($15). The seller did not notice the error when she sent me the receipt. However, she was most gracious in…

Anniversary: detail

I’ve just looked up ‘detail’ in my dictionary. It’s given as ‘det-a-l’ (which is just like Simplified) but the previous owner has written ‘det-reverse loop’ in pencil next to it. For ‘detailed’, they’ve written the same thing with a disjoined t, instead of the ‘det-a-ld’ that’s indicated. Is that a Pre-Anniverary thing? (by kevinwal for everyone)…

E-Bay Item

There’s a copy of the Gregg version of A. Conan Doyle’s “The Sign of the Four” that was just posted on E-Bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=29223&item=6953605809&rd=1 The price is pretty good.  According to the description there’s some ink stain damage, but the photo of the book looks like it’s in pretty good shape. -ness affix?

I’m learning Simplified and haven’t come across a -ness ending yet. Since one of the things I hope to do with Shorthand is make sketches of poems, the -ness ending would be very handy to have… I’m not sure it exists in Simplified, but I think it might in Anniversary. Can someone tell me what…

Hello, new member, new to shorthand

Hello all, I rarely delurk this rapidly but this looks like a really good friendly group. I am just getting starting in shorthand. It sounds a little silly perhaps but I was reading Dracula for the first time last week and was really intrigued by the mention of writing journals in shorthand. Seems like a…
