  1. Am I the only one who feels as if they're missing something here?    Seems to me that there's been some sort of offline disagreement. I think Marc's contributions to the group have been invaluable and I'd hate to see him go. Surely this misunderstanding can be sorted out. John?   Kevin

  2. I think Marc may have misunderstood when I asked him to retire one particular post–he deleted all posts and his membership.  I've begged him to come back, but haven't heard anything.  Maybe he needs some encouragement from his steno-friends!

  3. Hi, Kevin.

Someone said they saw a post of mine on the group. I replied
that I left the group long, long ago — evidently, someone mistook me with the other Marc… we both spell our first names the same!

Ironically, the other Marc and I are the only two who could be classified as "experts" in Gregg insofar as we're likely the only two who actually worked for major corporation presidents or major corporation second-in-command corporate officers and used Gregg as part of our work. He and I both had positions that demanded not only Gregg shorthand, but the bachelor's degree; interestingly, he and I are among few who went on for the master's and then took post-master's or doctoral course work! (And yes, Gregg
shorthand served us well in work and school!)

I don't recall any email about returning to the group — I recall email from the moderator saying with only a modicum of politeness, "get out." I did just that, post haste. I believe it was c. July of this calendar year.

Oh the first paragraph's topic: I do not see any posts of mine remaining. After scouring this pseudomonarch's Shire I find no residue of postings!

    Sic transit gloria!

  4. Welcome back Marc. Well, if you didn't receive my emails, then that explains it. I've pasted them here. So you see, it was all a big misunderstanding. Welcome back; I hope you're here to stay.

Hey! I just noticed that you deleted ALL your posts, not just that one. What's the big idea??? You're not allowed to quit… We'll send kidnappers to tie you up and drag you back!

Seriously though, please don't be offended about the post retirement; it's nothing against you at all–I am very sorry if my message came accross that way. In fact, I was sad to retire the post since I loved the rest of it, especially the funny comparison to your Saturn. You see, it's just that I am very strict on rule number two with EVERYBODY. Rare is the man who hasn't felt my deletion wrath–why, I have even retired my own posts for breaking the rules on several occasions (after reading them again later).

There was nothing wrong with what you said in the post. It's just that the wording might have led some people to misinterpret it. I wish MSN would allow us to edit posts in these situations, but since we can't, i would encourage you to repost with a change in that particular sentence. But in any case, please come back!

    Subject Gregg Shorthand Post

Hi Marc B., the post below is scheduled for
retirement from the Gregg Group on the grounds of
breaking rule number two: to keep posts kind.
Remember that the important thing to consider is not
what the post means, but what the reader might
mistake it to mean. In this case, the reader might
misinterpret the meaning to be that Marc^3 is not an
expert, which whether or not true, is unkind to
point out. Feel free to remove the post before me,
to avoide the ominous "removed by manager" label.
Please reply to this message if you would like to
discuss it further. As always, thank you for your
rich and thoughtful contributions to the group! VTU,

    John Sapp
