5,000 Most Used Words

With the link Irons in the Fire posted, http://www.edict.com.hk/textanalyser/wordlists.htm maybe I can make my own 5,000 most used word list.  They would be more recent than the Simplified book.  Just one question, though: does the Simplified most used words book also include phrases? __________________________________ Shorthand: isn’t it about time? Ommision of Vowels

I was wondering why some words omit the vowels, even when they are stressed. For example, the word “incline” is written “e n”. The disjoined e only makes the incl sound, so why is there no simple for the hard ‘i’ sound? I’d think you’d write it “e i-n”. Same thing wish the “sup(e)r-” prefix….
