  1. For the ambitious student, the study and practice of shorthand is one of the best of all available means of self-education.
It calls for the acquisition of a wide general knowledge because in the course of shorthand training, material dealing with a great variety of subects, must be written from dictation; and intelligent transcription of such material is impossible without at least an elementary insight into the subject matter of what is written. This further implies that shorthand practice neccesitates the acquisition of a large vocabulary which in turn implies a knowledge of the exact meaning of words, of the spelling and pronounciation and of the correct application in speech and writing.
Skill in the use of words again implies the development of logical thought and is capable of stimulation artistic pleasure in the appreciation of great literature.

  2. what office do you hold in the village of ervington?
    i am the village courier(?)

for how many years have you held that position?
    about 4 years..

are you also the tax collector of the village?
    i am, sir.

according to the tax master, is the defendant paying taxes on the
GARATION (?) that is the subject of this lit(igation)?

I just realized the next image was the answer key. HAHA! But still, I'd say Mr. Dupraw had VERY legible handwriting considering the speed he was probably whipping all that out at. Damn.

  3. "Is the defendant paying taxes on the garage

His notes are very legible because he exaggerates the differences between large and small circles, and between large and small strokes. That is what makes his writing so distinct.
