Another speedbuiling tool.

I forgot to mention in my last posting another invaluable speedbuilding tool.  Since 80% of my work is medical, the best medical reference, specifically for phrasing, is GREGG MEDICAL SHORTHAND MANUAL AND DICTIONARY by Effie Smither.  Great outlines and disjoined prefixes and suffixes for anyone doing anything medically oriented. A wonderful speedbuilding tool.

In case anyone who is speedbuilding is interested, I think the best resource I have ever used, and still use quite a bit, is GREGG REPORTING SHORTCUTS by Zoubek and Rifkin.  Although many of the outlines are specific to testimony, there are so many others that are wonderful time-savers.  I increased my speed from 110…

Itself and Oneself

Does anyone know why the word “itself” is spelled t-ss and “oneself” is spelled u-n-ss? Paragraph 170 of the Anniversary manual states that “self” is expressed by s, but gives “itself” spelled t-ss as an example with no further comment.  (by tayjyi for everyone)

Shorthand vs Recording

OK, folks, I’ve posted a table (http://www.shorthandshorthandshorthand.com/Shorthand_vs_Machine.htm) to my site and am wondering if I left out anything important. The table shows, as honestly as possible, the superiority of using a shorthand writer as opposed to a dictating machine in the office environment. Of course, that table is from my standpoint when I was a…
