The Gregg Group was founded 22 May 2004, prompted by the lack of online shorthand resources. As the primary use for shorthand — business and legal recording — has waned in recent decades, we generally acclaim the skill as a hobby or personal tool. The purpose of the group is to promote the use of Gregg systems of shorthand by providing advice to beginners, support for students, and an association of users of this efficient, attractive, and enjoyable method of writing.

My friend posted this on my facebook asking if I could read it. It’s a screen cap of Mad Men (TV show) and the guy is supposedly taking notes in shorthand. It looks like gibberish to me but I came up with (mind you I had been drinking a little): did owing not charge [CHTR]inform…
In the past few years, our group has increased considerably in size (yippee!). However, some users have never posted nor lurked in the site. For that reason, I will be cleaning up the roster from users that have not posted or read the postings for over a year. Not to worry: if your access is…

Dear friends, there is an obstacle again to my mastering the fundamentals of Anniversary Gregg, marked with red in the attached file. Aid of any sort will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Respectfully, Gleb Chebrikoff (by Gleb for group greggshorthand)
In commemoration of the 41st anniversary of the landing on the moon, I took an interesting article from the February 2006 issue of Boys’ Life, the official magazine of the Boy Scouts, and penned it in Anniversary. Neil Armstrong was an Eagle scout, so the article gives a new meaning to the phrase “The Eagle…
Dear group members, as a newcomer to this wonderfully useful group and an absolute beginner in studying the system of Gregg Shorthand, I need to ask you a relatively simple question which, however, causes me trouble since I still haven’t been able to come up with a satisfactory answer. I am now studying the Anniversary…
I ran into this NPR piece about the classic IBM Model M keyboards, probably the best keyboard ever built, as they were very solid. If you don’t recognize the name, these are the ones with the clickety sound everytime you press a key. Although IBM stopped producing these in the 90’s, there is a company…
A small pamphlet published in 1936 with useful shortcuts and phrases often heard in Congressional testimony; written in Anniversary, though they can be used in all series. Attachment: congressional-record-vocabulary.pdf
