Spam

Lately, we have been getting a lot of spam in our group. For that reason, I have turned on the Moderation feature for a while. The way it is supposed to work is that the first new message of a person will be screened. Once that happens, newer messages from the same user should not go through moderation at all. This is the last thing I wanted to do, because we haven’t had this problem in the past, and it will add to my workload. So please bear with me for a while. I’m constantly monitoring the group, so if your message goes to moderation, it shouldn’t be there for long. Likewise, if you see that your messages are going through moderation all the time, let me know as well.

  1. Sorry. But I do not agree with this screening process. I tried to post information about the different versions of Alice in Wonderland in Gregg Shorthand. A lot if research was involved. It ended up in the moderators queue and has not been posted. I have contributed several things to this group. I had plans to contribute more items. But if my posts are being screened out I am not going to continue

  2. I think I haven't been clear, but I'll make myself even clearer.

The Spam postings are not coming from members of this group. However, if you see that your post goes into moderation, please let me know. So far I haven't seen anything on moderation. Zip, zilch, nada. So before you throw in the towel, let me know, so that I can alert the folks at Multiply to fix this. A simple note telling me the title of the post, the time, and date, would suffice. So if it is telling you that it goes to the moderator's queue, it's not going there.

I'm sorry that I have to do this, but I will do anything I can to keep the group clean and functional.

  3. Has anyone been able to get a posting into the moderation queue? Yesterday, my posting about Alice in Wonderland stated that it was going through moderation. I heard from the moderator that it never made it to the queue. I have more scanned materials to post, but there seems to be a bug in Multiply that prevents my postings of new threads from getting into the moderator's queue. I will continue to put scanned items into the Internet Archives Library, but it doesn't look like my scanned Gregg Shorthand novels can find their way into this group.

  4. I heard back from the Multiply support group and we will be troubleshooting the problem with new posts. In the meantime, if you post something new, your post may go to moderation. If this happens, send me a quick message telling me the title of the post, the time, and date, so that I can verify that the post is indeed in moderation and forward this information (not the post) to Multiply customer service. Your cooperation during this short period is greatly appreciated!
