My husband was watching Ultimate Fighting. (He doesn’t complain about me learning shorthand,…)
He said the translator for a Chinese fighter was writing shorthand to help her remember between listening and translating, about 50 words at a time. Yes, possibly it’s just a short-term memory-aid rather than shorthand she expects to read years later, but it’s still a current use.

And I now have a new response for when my mother kids me that "nobody uses that anymore." My favorite is still "I do." : )
LOL!
