The Gregg Group was founded 22 May 2004, prompted by the lack of online shorthand resources. As the primary use for shorthand — business and legal recording — has waned in recent decades, we generally acclaim the skill as a hobby or personal tool. The purpose of the group is to promote the use of Gregg systems of shorthand by providing advice to beginners, support for students, and an association of users of this efficient, attractive, and enjoyable method of writing.

I have tried to download this and cannot open the zip document. What would you recommend?
I haven't needed to download an unzipping utility in some time (I beleive my mac has a native one?), but as I recall there exist a lot of free utilities with which to unzip these compressed files. If you go to download.com (by cnet) and search for "zip" or "unzip" there is a good selection sorted by operating system. I know when I ran on a windows I had winzip or stuffit expander, but there are probably better utilities nowadays. Check out the reviews, good luck.
Ok, so safari downloaded the file unzipped but now i cannot figure out how to upload the files to orangeapple.
I believe there are some instructions on the website, but you may have to host the audio and images if you want to make a private deck from it. Assuming you have the app, I may be able to just share my decks as is from the program (given that i'm already hosting them), that way all you do is input a code in the app and it downloads directly do your device. I'll look into that when i get a chance. I thought to upload the raw data for everyone else not running on apple systems, but it would be much easier for those who are if i did it this way. I'll keep you posted.
That would be great, thanks!
Thanks! I have downloaded them and will check them out.
Sometimes the download does not complete correctly and the file corrupts. Check that first. I didn't have an issue with the file.
I re-edited the original post, instructions above are for those that have the app and would like to download the decks directly to their phones.
This is really wonderful, thank you. Do you know how to use the program to start with the outline rather than produce it?
Thanks David!
I'm not entirely sure I understand your question. It sounds like you're having trouble loading the decks. Are you using Flashcards Deluxe or another program? If you're on FD the easiest way to get the decks on your device is to download them directly to the device by following the instructions above just after "Update" and you won't even need to download the zip I posted here. If you are working on a different OS and program, I can look into it a bit, just let me know what you're running on and maybe I can figure something out.
They work fine on FD, but I was just wondering if I could reverse the decks so that I start from outlines and check them against the English translations. The way I have them now they start with the English and I have to look at the back to see the outline.
When you have a deck open for viewing, hit the gear in the top right corner. there is an option there "show side first". you can change the preference from there.
This is really fantastic. I found that it's possible to set the audio on and to use flashcards, and if you have a good will you can avoid parsing the Roman letters and just seek out which word outline matches the audio. Wonderful!
Actually, would it be possible to reupload these? The audio and images seem broken, which is a shame.
Do you mean the original zip file?
The units on Flashcard Deluxe's site seem to be broken. I haven't tried the zip file.
I think the zip file has everything you need. Give it a try.
