An example of my penmanship

Obviously I need some practice, but this is what I have right now. I’m on assignment 6, ch 1.

I have trouble forming certain letter combinations, and I’m sorry but I don’t have time to type out what it’s supposed to say right now. 🙁

  1. Hi Brenna,

Your notes look like my first notebook.

The green pages in the DJS book have great penmanship pointers. As Carlos said, work on your proportions. Several of your L's look like R's. Also keep the straight lines straight, especially between A and E. That's something I still need to work on.

Reading ahead will help, since you'll get used to seeing it done correctly. If you can get material by other writers, do so. That would give you a good idea of how much variation works, rather than trying to copy the plates exactly. I don't know how much is available for DJS.

Every day go back and read some of your old notes. That works better than re-reading them immediately after writing. I catch all sorts of things that way. It also builds confidence. If I'm not confident I'll be able to read my notes, I don't use shorthand.
