The Gregg Group was founded 22 May 2004, prompted by the lack of online shorthand resources. As the primary use for shorthand — business and legal recording — has waned in recent decades, we generally acclaim the skill as a hobby or personal tool. The purpose of the group is to promote the use of Gregg systems of shorthand by providing advice to beginners, support for students, and an association of users of this efficient, attractive, and enjoyable method of writing.

Where did you get the information that the key is in the Oct 1933 issue of American Magazine? I'm trying to get the English key. I found a cover for this issue, but it doesn't mention this author. Before I buy the magazine online, I want to make sure that I'm getting the right issue.
From here.
Also, instead of buying, can't you do an interlibrary loan, or request a copy of the article?
Cool story! Don't we all include a "Mr. Whitbeck" in our circle of acquaintances? The editors of The Gregg Writer seemed to have a knack of choosing entertaining narratives that would appeal to students. LOL
Thanks.
You're welcome.
