The Q’s and A’s of Shorthand Theory mentions the expression he-was-in-there (answer 65). How would this expression be written? With a jog between n and th?

No jog. Just stop the "n" and write the "under th" starting with a slight downward movement.
It is a combination that I avoid writing because it is a little awkward.
