Hello

I’ve been following the blogg for some time and am now a member. I am a business studies teacher, having taught shorthand to high school students and adults. My passion for shorthand has been fueled in recent times by the concept of shorthand shown to be an effective brain training tool, which can result in memory retention through neuroplasticity of the brain. Although I write Pitman (alas! I hear you say) my endeavor is to promote the writing, teaching and revision of shorthand for its benefits as well as the beauty of its written form. Therefore I am very interested in what everyone here has to say about shorthand. Thank you for the opportunity of being part of this group.

  1. Carmel,

As a speaker of American English I enjoy your use of "Alas" and "whilst" — words that are almost novelties on this side of the pond.  And of course I have to chuckle when you mention the "beauty of [Pitman] shorthand". Beauty and Pitman have never associated themselves with one another in my mind, haha.

All kidding aside, I'm sure anything you have to share with us here will be greatly appreciated and enjoyed.
