Here is a 20-page pre-anniversary shorthand story from the Gregg Writer (June-Sept 1922). The Touch System (1909) is a detective story that seems very implausible.
I recently read this article. It is not a difficult read.
The Gregg Group was founded 22 May 2004, prompted by the lack of online shorthand resources. As the primary use for shorthand — business and legal recording — has waned in recent decades, we generally acclaim the skill as a hobby or personal tool. The purpose of the group is to promote the use of Gregg systems of shorthand by providing advice to beginners, support for students, and an association of users of this efficient, attractive, and enjoyable method of writing.

Besides appearing in various newspapers of the time, this story had also been serialized before in longhand form in the June to October 1910 issues of The Gregg Writer.
I just looked at part of the serialization in English in the Gregg Writer in 1910. It seems very strange that they put a detective story in English in this magazine. It has nothing to do with business or shorthand or typewriting instruction. (A typewriter does figure into the plot.) I wonder why they took up so much space with the English version of the story. It was not being used as a key for shorthand plates at that time.
There you go … it features a typewriter!
Joking aside, in the early days of the magazine, articles of general interest were also included in The Gregg Writer.
