French DJS text on bodybuilding (le culturisme)

Hello,

Here is a small 1-page transcription. Please let me know if you find any mistake. I had to guess-write the English nouns (Hollywood, fitness, body building), so I’m not sure if they are written properly. The blanks between words are actually mistakes I crossed out and then deleted after scanning. Thanks!

    well, 'fitness' is written like you did in the Anniversary Gregg dictionary. Just few things, I saw while reading:

    – 's’affiche': the first 's' should begin on the baseline ;

    – at the end, you wrote 'clob' instead of 'club'.

    Really, in DJS, you don't have brief forms for 'capital' (and 'capitalisme') and for 'chiffre d'affaires'…?

    Ah, 'construit' should be made with the prefix 'constr-', much nicer…

    I didn't understand '…épargne le ? du Darwinisme social…'

    I'm not surprised by this text: a vendor has told me recently how he is missing his 'salle de sports'… 🙂

  2. This is pretty legible. Here are some little things:

    Line 2: "bodybuilding" is written with the ld blend (not a separate l-d).

    Line 4: There's no oo-hook between the t and the r in culturisme (-ure ending).

    Line 5: Should it be dans les (not dans la)?

    Line 6: You could write "blockbuster" with one outline. Also, hollywoodiene is written with 2 consecutive oo-hooks.

    Line 8: The o-hook is turned on the side in the phrase qu'on n'a because it comes before an n.

    Line 12: Darwinisme is written with the underscore e (not with oo-hook-e).

    Line 14: l'existence is a little tricky to write, and I see two options:

    In the first one, you write the first e with a backward motion on top of the l and continue the outline as normal (this is similar to the French Anniversary way, in which you preserve the look of the word existence but write it using the French DJS outline). In the second option (much easier to write), you just reverse the e-s-e-s part of the word. I prefer this last one, but I don't know what convention SME used for these kinds of phrases.

    Line 19: ultime is written with the tem blend (not t-e-m).

      for Line 14, the 'double s' doesn't exist in DJS?

      I have the impression that, in Sénécal, the backward motion is reserved to preserve it:

      while it is not used when the word begins by a simple 's'.

      1. Unfortunately, the ses blend is not used exister! It's one of those outlines that they decided to rewrite without the ses to match the English form "exist", which in DJS is written in full.

          1. The theory is more or less comparable between the English and French versions, with some adaptations. Also, right now I'm in the middle of writing a transcript of the Simplified French Gregg manual, so that also helps.

  3. Thanks Christine and Carlos! I’m going to rewrite the whole passage and correct the mistakes, because the writing was a bit sloppy anyway. Just a question regarding existence: does DJS theory normally requires the ses blend in *xis*, or would it not apply anyway because it’s an X and not an S (according to DJS theory)?
