Journey to Home of Edwin Landseer – Anniversary Shorthand

A Little Journey to the Home of Sir Edwin Landseer was serialized in the Gregg Writer in Anniversary shorthand from April through June 1933.

Landseer was a famous painter in England  who painted realistic pictures of animals, especially dogs. (I’m not sure if he’s the one who came up with the familiar picture of the dogs playing poker.)

This story was taken from the book Little Journeys to the Homes of Eminent Painters (1899) by Elbert Hubbard. Hubbard was a friend of Gregg. His stories and articles constantly appeared in the Gregg Writer magazine.

Hubbard is most famous for the story A Message to Garcia, which appeared in the Gregg Writer in 1902 and 1911. It appeared again in the 1912 Gregg Shorthand Reader. An Anniversary version appeared in Graded Readings in Gregg Shorthand (1930).

Hubbard is also famous for the book series Little Journeys to the Homes of the Great and for drowning with his wife during the sinking of the Lusitania.
