One of the greatest scientists of all time, Galileo di Vincenzo Bonaiuti de’ Galilei lived during the 16th and 17th centuries. His scientific contributions have a profound impact in modern science, not only because of his specific discoveries in physics and astronomy, but by the methodical way he approached his research, forming the basis of the scientific method. Here is an essay by Isaac Asimov from his book Breakthroughs in Science highlighting the life of this remarkable individual, transcribed by me in Anniversary Gregg.
