The Mystery of Houdini’s Death

Erik Weisz, otherwise known as Harry Houdini, was known for his famous stunts and escapes, and his performances entertained all over the United States and beyond. His life was portrayed in film by Tony Curtis. He died on Halloween (October 31) in 1926. The official cause of death was peritonitis, however, the circumstances relating to his death were as fascinating as his daring performances. This article written by one of his friends, the American journalist Fulton Oursler, and published shortly after his death in February 1927, details some of the stories surrounding his death. I transcribed it in Anniversary Gregg for the blog.
