I have added the Anniversary Dictionary to the site for quick reference, and the PDF is text-searchable. I also updated some text in the site, and updated the old grainy images of the Gregg Publishing Company logo with the new vectorized one, wherever it occurred on the site. I hope this update is well received. 🙂
Awesome Andrew. Thanks for the update!
Thanks Andrew! Your site is still Home Base. 🙂
I noted with some amusement your very modest assessment of your site as "merely a repository of a few files and some information."
Yeah—and the Pyramids are merely a bunch of cinder blocks piled together. 😉
Your site was one of the reasons I chose Gregg, and now there's even more reason.
definitely an indispensable resource for when I started writing Gregg.
I always thought it would be difficult to come up with some database of outlines that one could type in a word and see it accurately. I had no idea it was as easy as scanning the dictionary, and having Acrobat automatically reorient and digitize the text for searching. I've been using the PDF today to check outlines, and it is surprisingly fast. Just pressing CTRL-F and typing the word and pressing enter, you get the outline immediately. If the word isn't there, you can check for its root word and check the derivatives list at the beginning of the book.
New feature! I've organized the Anniversary reading material into its own page, including a newly-scanned high quality publication of Dickens' A Christmas Carol. I include a few other shorthand books that weren't on the site before, including a couple of articles that Chuck scanned for the group. It will be added to as time progresses. 🙂
Cool Andrew. Looks neat.
One of the best GSH sites…. thanks for all your generous work, Andrew!
New resource: 1916 Gregg Shorthand Dictionary. Every page is scanned and text-searchable. Should be handy for those looking for the right form and trying to stay true to the 1916 Manual. I also put up a few resources and links to a few Google Books. I also posted the Q and A book that was scanned and put up here. That book was such a great read!
Very nice!
New file under Anniversary Reference Material. It is a nice list of surnames: http://gregg.angelfishy.net/propernames.pdf
Andrew, thanks very much for the dictionary. That is a great help!
