WW2 Journal – Translation Assistance, Please

Hey everybody! It’s nice to be back on the blog. I’ve been away too long. Feels great to be doing something normal!

I’m in the process of translation a diary kept by a soldier during WW2. I admit to being somewhat lacking in my knowledge of both European geography and the movements/activities during the war in and around France, which seems to be the backdrop for one particular page of this journal. It seems to have multiple city names that I am having trouble deciphering. I’m posting the page here in the hopes that someone with a better knowledge of WW2 and European geography can help. Spoiler alert – I’m also posting as much of the translation as I have been able to complete so far. So, if you want to try it yourself first, don’t look down underneath the scan! Any assistance in filling in the blanks, or correcting what I’ve translated so far would be appreciated:

Departed from _______ on December nine and arrived at ____ ___ ___ ___ ____ about noon. Left that afternoon on the General_________. Slept on the deck and arrived off ______ . ¶ We disembarked on Wednesday and proceeded to the town of Saint Paer arriving Thursday morning and bivouacked in a ____ field in four man pup tents. We left there on Tuesday afternoon.
