Here is the final box set that I had left to digitize. Side A of each record was taken from Dictation for Mailable Transcripts. Side B of each record was taken from Progressive Dictation With Previews. If you want a transcript of these recordings, I’d recommend getting these books.
These recordings were cleaned up and enhanced with Audacity, as best I could (thank you, Audacity!) Record 1 Side A was too damaged to record, unfortunately. There were some scratches in some of the other records (consult the chart below for those). When taking dictation for the first time, consult the chart for which recordings have scratches, then listen to the recording all the way through while following along in the book so that you’ll have a sense of what’s coming. I did something different with this set: when there was a scratch that couldn’t be repaired, I substituted a (hopefully non-startling) tone in those spots. When you hear the tone, leave a blank in your dictation, but keep going! (I wish I would’ve thought of that sooner!)
This zip file contains 10 .mp3 files and 1 .pdf. Each .mp3 averages about 8 minutes. Most of these recordings are 60 WPM, though some of them (the partially duplicated warm-ups) are 70 WPM.
For the previous recordings in this series, click here. I have to admit I’m very impressed by what the Gregg folks were doing with this series of box sets for the Simplified edition: there were 15 of them available for dictation practice back in the day! I wish I had them all! But we have 5 so far, and that’s enough practice material to last a long time, especially for beginners.
Happy dictating!
