The Grand Peak

Rising 14,115 feet above sea level, Pikes Peak is about 12 miles west of Colorado Springs, and is the highest mountain in the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Named after American explorer Zebulon Pike, here is the story of the first American sighting of the mountain, transcribed in Simplified Gregg by me for the blog.
