Honoring Mr. Gregg, today, June 17th, the anniversary of his birth….

I’ve been enjoying this book by Mr. Gregg this morning, http://books.google.com/books?id=RXQPAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA76&lpg=PA76&dq=%22John+Robert+Gregg+Society%22&source=bl&ots=hkExQ9dh4r&sig=ItpFh32E8pE0N_QRphb0Hpm0As4&hl=en&ei=P9k4SvHaHd-MtgewrojmDA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=10#PPA42,M1 A small treatise to young teachers on teaching shorthand. A lovely example of his kindness, perspicacity, and charm. Wishing you all a happy celebration of Mr. Gregg’s birthday! (by Shorthand-learner for everyone)

List of studies/analyses of Gregg, with links

I’ve found many more of these studies.  Rather than posting each of them singly, here is the link to the list.  I used the advanced search function on the site with “Gregg, and shorthand”.  Here is what came of that: http://www.eric.ed.gov:80/ERICWebPortal/Home.portal?_nfpb=true&ERICExtSearch_Operator_2=and&ERICExtSearch_SearchType_0=kw&ERICExtSearch_SearchValue_2=&ERICExtSearch_SearchValue_1=Shorthand&ERICExtSearch_Operator_1=and&ERICExtSearch_SearchType_1=kw&ERICExtSearch_PubDate_To=2009&ERICExtSearch_SearchValue_0=Gregg+&ERICExtSearch_SearchType_2=kw&ERICExtSearch_SearchCount=2&ERICExtSearch_PubDate_From=0&_pageLabel=ERICSearchResult&newSearch=true&rnd=1245074443812&searchtype=advanced# (by Shorthand-learner for everyone)

Study analyzing changes in shorthand use during employment, 1966

Another interesting find: http://www.eric.ed.gov:80/ERICDocs/data/ericdocs2sql/content_storage_01/0000019b/80/38/30/eb.pdf I found the regional differences in use interesting, and the conclusions and recommendations. I was disappointed that only Simplified and DJS were included in the study, as I would like to know how those using Anniversary kept to the principles and rules. http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Olympus/9593/hist.htm#Gregg%20(1888) Ran across this today.  Interesting to see how someone thought these ought to be categorized. I’m sorry, I do not know why the links often post as “unclickable”. (by Shorthand-learner for everyone)
