Live vs leave
They’re both nouns. I’ve been reading philosophy, and some sentences make sense with either. The Simplified dictionary writes them both Lev. Does another version do them differently? If so, I’ll use that. Thanks!
The Gregg Group was founded 22 May 2004, prompted by the lack of online shorthand resources. As the primary use for shorthand — business and legal recording — has waned in recent decades, we generally acclaim the skill as a hobby or personal tool. The purpose of the group is to promote the use of Gregg systems of shorthand by providing advice to beginners, support for students, and an association of users of this efficient, attractive, and enjoyable method of writing.

Hello, Is there a neat way of writing words like Natasha (the name), attachant, attacha (in French)? In my DJS manual, attachant is written with a very long CH so that the first and last A-circles don’t overlap. But then this CH ends up being just as long as a J really. Have you spotted…
And look, no lines!
I couldn’t post this to the discussion about Gregg-ruled paper on Incompetech, so I’ve started a new thread. Not only is the difference between Gregg-ruled and wide-ruled small, but it’s in fact very small, with wide-ruled being the very slightly wider of the two. The difference between 1/3 inch and 11/32 inch is just 1/96…
I’ve been enjoying this forum so much because of the diversity of languages, methods and resources regarding shorthand. I’m 28 years old and I’ve started studying shorthand on April 22nd, 2019, when I finally decided to become a legislative reporter in the Brazilian National Congress. As you might expect, very few people qualify for teaching…
Gregg ruling is 1/3″ or 3 spaces to the inch, with a single margin drawn down the center of the page. If you want to create your own custom Gregg sheets, here are the settings for two sizes (8 1/2″ x 11″ and the steno pad size 6″x 9″). Just plug in these same numbers…
Hello, In a transcription she sent me, my mother wrote the verb demeurer as: dem(blend)-r-e. I’ve never heard of a dem blend in DJS (only din, daine), but this made me wonder why in DJS it is written d-e-m-eu-r-e while: -it starts with de which, granted, is not dé, but is still written without an…
I’ve been communicating with my mum in shorthand for a little while now and we’ve been doing textbook-based transcriptions to refresh her memory. I initially assumed that she learned DJS in both English and French, but I’ve been seeing surprising “mistakes” in her shorthand that sometimes look more like older series than actual mistakes. But…
I’ve very recently completed the Simplified manual, and have been practicing by writing out daily news updates from the Nytimes. Since it’s all that the news is about these days, I’ve run into the word quarantine quite a bit. The simplified dictionary has the word ending with a t-n stroke. Based on the manual, I…
Hello, during the confinement, I had a look at the Anniversary manual — the English one — and tried to guess the meaning of the texts. An exercise a lot easier and less frustrating when you have the solutions. I didn’t finish the manual and I am not sure I have enough motivation to do…
