Hi everyone, I just started learning Simplified and I was wondering how long it would take to get good. I know it’s a vague question, and that everyone picks this up at different speeds, but if I practiced for about an hour a day, when do you think I could take a dictation at a normal speed? Thanks for your help.

On average, at the end of the first shorthand course, I would expect the student to take 60 wpm easily. After that, it is up to the individual and the method of training as to the progress to 120-140 wpm.
And normal, common speech is around 150 words per minute. 🙂
